Omega was incorporated on October 15, 1973.
Omega's production facilities are located on a 17 acre site on US Highway 29 in Spartanburg County, SC.
The plant and the warehouse are identical 28 feet tall ceiling pre-stressed concrete buildings separated 25 feet apart with explosion proof electrical wiring. They are connected to Omega’s wastewater treatment facility.
The laboratory and the boilers are housed in a separate 12 feet tall ceiling concrete block building.
PRESSURE REACTORS
Omega’s three (3) 3000 gallon reactors are constructed of 316 stainless steel, rated for 100 psig to 140 psig, with 20 horsepower, two speed, four blade agitators. The reactors are mounted on load cells and can also be charged using super-sacks.
The reactors can be heated to 550°F - 650°F with heat transfer fluid, hot oil, and with their own heat exchanger for cooling through 4 zones of half-pipe coil jacketing, and the vessels also have 2 sets of concentric internal coils divided into 2 vertical zones which are heated with
377°F steam, cooling with cooling tower water.
The three reactors each have a 12 inch diameter, 6 foot tall, overhead vapor line connected to a vertical condenser and 300 gallon receiver.
One reactor has a packed distillation column (20 HETP) connected to its vertical overhead condenser. It is equipped with a reflux splitter and two (2) 300 gallon receivers.
All three reactors are connected to individual liquid ring vacuum pumps to 25mm Hg absolute pressure 29 inches Hg vacuum, and a steam jet/liquid ring vacuum pump system to 2mm Hg absolute pressure.
Atmospheric Reactors
Omega's 750 gallon reactor is constructed of 316 stainless steel, rated for atmospheric pressure. It is heated with steam up to 406°F with two sets of concentric internal coils and mixed with 5 horsepower, two speed agitator with a single axial flow mixing blade.
Omega's 1200 gallon reactor is constructed of 316 stainless steel, rated for atmospheric pressure. It is heated with steam up to 406°F with two sets of concentric internal coils and mixed with 10 horsepower, two speed agitator with a single axial flow mixing blade.
Mixing Tanks
Three (3) 6000 gallon heated mixing tanks.
